This was a very quick and easy project that I really enjoyed – I have made a few things with filet crochet and I highly recommend using it – so simple and effective.. The pattern, by Jackie Carreira from Inside Crochet magazine, uses 3 balls of Bergere de France Coton FIfty (50% cotton / 50% acrylic, 50g) in a wonderful Nectarine (24419) and a 2.5mm hook.
I liked the colour so much, and had some left over, so I decided my table runner could do with some matching place mats too! I have only made one so far, but I will end up with 4 in total. I used a 3.5mm hook to make and a simple granny circle pattern from Purl Bee along with 2 balls of Twilley’s Freedom Echo Recycled Cotton DK yarn (Natural, 100% recycled cotton, 50g) that were lying around at home. To finish, I used some left over yarn from the table runner and a 3mm hook to half double crochet a border.
Couple amendments to Purl Bee’s pattern: add an additional ch to each ch between 3dc in round 4. I also didn’t have enough yarn to make 18 rounds, so I just stopped at 17 rounds.
