5: Amigurumi

Picture 917

I made these funny looking creatures when getting hooked (excuse the pun!) on amigurumi (the Japanese art of knitting or crocheting small stuffed animals). I used Debbie Bliss cotton DK to crochet these, which is a bit of a luxury but it is really good quality cotton yarn.

Amigurumi are such fun to make and once you have a few together, it can look really good. The 12 below are all from a fantastic crochet book called Crocheted Finger Puppets by Gina Alton.

A made this unusual amigurumi family consisting of an elephant, dog, bear, chick, duck and grey wolf! My 2 year old son is quite fond of these.

The bear pattern was from another great amigurumi book called Kyuuto! Japanese Crafts: Amigurumi.
